MONTGOMERY, Alabama (February 3, 2011) – Most of Public Strategy Associates’ clients who won state Senate and House seats in last November’s election have been appointed to critical oversight and leadership positions in the legislature and other state governmental entities.
Most recently, Republican Sen. Bill Holtzclaw was elected by his peers to oversee the legislative committee that reviews state contracts and earlier this week. Republican State Sen. Cam Ward of Alabaster was elected president of the Alabama Law Institute.
The Contract Review Committee has the power to delay state contracts for up to 45 days, but it cannot cancel them. The Law Institute works with the Alabama Legislative Reference Service in properly placing acts passed by the Legislature in the Code of Alabama.
“It is apparent that these individuals possess the right character and necessary leadership abilities to be entrusted with public office by their constituents, and those qualities are now recognized by their peers,” said Brent Buchanan, Senior Partner with PSA. “We were very honored to have represented them in their campaigns and continue to support them in their official endeavors,” Buchanan added.
In addition to Holtzclaw and Ward, several other PSA clients have also been awarded legislative committee chairs, including:
- State Senator Gerald Dial (R-Lineville) will serve as Chairman of the Local Legislation Committee No 1, a Committee that addresses all local issues with the exception of Jefferson, Madison, and Mobile Counties. Senator Dial will also serve as Vice Chair of the Education Finance and Taxation Committee. In addition to the two committees listed above, Senator Dial was also chosen to serve on the following Committees: Rules; Children, Youth Affairs and Human Resources; and Health.
