| CLIENT NEWS: ALFA’s Farm-PAC Endorses John McMillan for Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries |

MONTGOMERY, Alabama (July 30, 2010) – On July 27, 2010 the political action committee of the Alabama Farmers Federation (Farm-PAC) announced its endorsement of John McMillan for Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries. McMillan became the Republican nominee for Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries by defeating Dorman Grace in the July 13 runoff. “I am honored to receive the endorsement of ALFA’s Farm-PAC,” commented McMillan upon learning of the endorsement. “The Alabama Farmers Federation serves as the collective voice of farmers and members of the agriculture industry across our state. Their endorsement of my candidacy is a testament to the fact that I will fight to save Alabama’s family farms, and I will work tirelessly to bring new agriculture opportunities and related industries to our state.” Farm-PAC Advisory Trustees, who are farmers from throughout the state, met July 21 at the Federation headquarters in Montgomery. The Farm-PAC executive committee approved the recommendations of the Farm-PAC Committee at its meeting on July 26. John McMillan’s life’s work has centered on agri-business, forest products, wildlife protection, natural resource management and the protection of private property rights. McMillan has served on the Baldwin County Commission; in the Alabama House of Representatives; as Commissioner of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources; and as Executive Vice President of the Alabama Forestry Association. McMillan, a sixth generation Alabamian, and his wife Kathryn have two sons and two grandchildren. McMillan is a native of Stockton in Baldwin County. |
