CLIENT NEWS: Greg Reed Gains Endorsement of Alabama Farmers Federation PAC

March 9, 20100

(JASPER, ALABAMA)—The political action committee of the Alabama Farmers Federation (Farm-PAC) today announced its endorsement of District 5 state senate candidate Greg Reed for the June 1st Republican primary.  The Alabama Farmers is a grassroots federation comprised of more than 400,000 members in 67 County Farmers Federations throughout Alabama.

“Growing up in rural Alabama, I understand the needs of our farmers and the immense economic impact they have on our state.  I am honored to receive this major endorsement and want to extend my thanks to the ALFA county board members,” Mr. Reed said.

The County Farmers Federation Presidents in the four counties in Senate District 5 all complemented Greg Reed today:

“Charles Bishop will be a tough Senator to replace because he has done so much for District 5,” said James Larry Jones, the President of the Walker County Farmers Federation. “But we believe Greg Reed has the small business background and a solid belief in limited government, which is a perfect fit for the Alabama Farmers’ Federation.”
“Greg Reed will work to keep taxes low,” said Donnie Allison, the President of the Winston County Farmers Federation.  “Greg embodies the virtues, principles and unwavering leadership needed right now in the Alabama state senate.”

“Jefferson County is split up into many Senate Districts, and we need Greg Reed to be in the Senate in time for redistricting so that all counties are given true representation, especially considering Jefferson County’s unique and diverse needs,” said Jefferson County Farmers Federation President Randy Gilmore.  “I trust that Greg will stand firm against the anti-business, anti-farm machines in Montgomery and make our county proud.”

“We are very excited about all of the great candidates who have stepped forward since Senator Bishop announced that he would not seek re-election, including the candidates in Tuscaloosa,” said John E. Walker, President Tuscaloosa Farmers Federation. “After talking to our leaders from the other counties, we believe Greg Reed is probably the best positioned to win this race,” he continued.

Greg Reed has worked in the medical equipment industry since 1991. He has been for the past six years Vice President of Preferred Medical Systems. Preferred Medical is an exclusive representative of diagnostic medical ultrasound systems in six states for General Electric Healthcare.

Greg and his wife, the former Mitsy Harbison, are natives of Cordova, Alabama. They have been married for 21 years and have three sons. Their sons Andrew and James are 15-year-old twins, and John Michael is 13 years old. The Reed boys attend Jasper City Schools in the 9th and 7th grades.
