PRESS RELEASE - FEBRUARY 17, 2010

(MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA)—According to the Alabama Farmers’ Federation survey of all 140 legislative districts, Rep. Spencer Collier has the strongest re-elect numbers of any Republican incumbent in the House of Representatives.  A re-elect number is figured from the responses to the question “Would you vote to re-elect Republican Spencer Collier to the House?” with the difference between respondents that answer YES verses those that answer NO.  Therefore, a 28.5% re-elect number for an incumbent is very impressive.

“This is very humbling and exciting information, and I owe it to the fact that every vote I take is based on what the people of my District want, not necessarily what I want or what the folks up here in Montgomery want,” said Rep. Collier.  “It’s not always a popular position to take in the House, but I am beholden to my District, not Montgomery,” he continued.

“I look forward to serving for another four years and accomplishing even more for the people of south Mobile County,” Rep. Coller concluded.

Rep. Collier was first elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in 2002 from District 105 and was reelected in 2006. Rep. Collier, a graduate of Troy University and a former Alabama State Trooper, is married to Melissa Collier, and they have four children, Christopher, Connor, Colby and Caroline.  The Colliers are members of Mobile Christian Center.
